How we calculate
Every salary on SalaryKati is shared anonymously by Nepali workers themselves. Here is exactly how we check them and calculate the numbers you see.
1. Where the salaries come from
- Workers share their job, country, city, experience and pay. No name, email or login is needed.
- Entries with a new job title or a new company are checked by a moderator before they are published.
- Spam protection, rate limits and automatic checks block fake or clearly wrong amounts.
2. Every salary is turned into a monthly amount
- Yearly salaries are divided by 12.
- Hourly pay becomes monthly as hours per week × 52 weeks ÷ 12 months.
- Conversions to Nepali rupees use Nepal Rastra Bank's daily exchange rates, refreshed every 6 hours.
3. What we show
- Median (middle salary): half of people earn more and half earn less. It is more reliable than the average, because one or two very high salaries can't distort it.
- Typical range: what the middle 50% of people earn (the 25th to 75th percentile).
- No figure is shown until at least 3 people have shared, so nobody can be identified.
- Displayed numbers are rounded, so no one's exact salary can be worked out.
4. Limits
These numbers are estimates shared by workers, not official offers from any company. Where only a few people have shared, figures are less precise, which is why we always show how many salaries each number is based on. The more people share, the more accurate it gets.
