What affects a nurse's salary in Nepal
- Government hospitals follow the government pay scale by level, with allowances and secure benefits.
- Private hospitals and nursing homes vary a lot. Some pay less than the government scale, especially for new nurses outside the big cities.
- Qualification (PCL, BSc or BN, MSc), specialty (ICU, OT, emergency) and night duty allowances all change your pay.
Your rights at work
- You must be registered with the Nepal Nursing Council to work as a nurse.
- Under the Labour Act you are entitled to a written contract, a festival allowance, leave, and Social Security Fund (SSF) contributions.
- Ask for overtime and night duty pay in writing before you join.
Thinking about working abroad?
Nurses from Nepal work in the UK, Australia, the USA and the Gulf, but each country needs its own licence and English test, and the process can take a long time and cost a lot. Compare real salaries in each country on SalaryKati, check the licence rules on the official nursing board website, and be careful with agents who promise a fast route.
